Jan Rübel
Born in 1970, from Eastern Frisia, Jan did Islamic studies and near eastern history in Hamburg, Beirut, and Tel Aviv. He worked for a year as a research assistant at the Near and Middle Eastern Society in Hamburg before training as a journalist at the Axel Springer School. He spent two years as a political editor at Die Welt, moving in early 2005 to Welt am Sonntag and two and a half years as a parliamentary correspondent reporting on the CDU, CSU, and FDP. He left a project in development at Axel Springer AG to become a Zeitenspiegel member in January, 2008.
