Our photographer Éric Vazzoler returned in mid-February from a one-month stay in Mariupol – a place that many colleagues cannot currently travel to, especially since the annexation referendum at the end of September 2022.
Éric didn’t just photograph for clients like Art and Strict, but he also volunteered to lead two photo workshops for children from School No. 7 and students from the Mariupol State University. He left his cameras behind. This way, the participants of his workshops, who usually no longer own cameras, can capture what moves them even without him. A continuation is planned for July.
A cooperation between the twin cities of Strasbourg, Stuttgart, and Dresden with the Ukrainian city of Khmelnytskyi gives him hope that his project of so-called „crossed“ workshops (on both sides of the front line) can be realized.
