
In the spring of 2025, a new environmental magazine was launched into the media world. Since its first issue, it has been a little bit powered by Zeitenspiegel – and a bit more so in the current, third issue.

Between Munich, Westerhever, Zittau, and Essen, they met 17 young people, listened to their worries and hopes, their attitudes, their anger and joy. And they created elaborate portraits of the teenagers.

„AI doesn't meet with informants,“ said Frauke Hunfeld. Together with Alexander Kauschanski and photographer Max Avdeev, she received the Hansel-Mieth-Prize for a reportage that no algorithm can write – about Germany's largest refugee camp and the business surrounding it. The keynote speech was given by Alexander Smoltczyk.

On June 13, 1999, Gabriel Grüner, a close companion of the agency Zeitenspiegel, was shot and killed along with photographer Volker Krämer and translator Senol Alit at the Dulje Pass in Kosovo. Uli Reinhardt, co-founder and longtime managing director of Zeitenspiegel, has traveled to the scene every year on the anniversary of their deaths ever since. Here is his report.
