Award for Courage - Cover Story
For several weeks in 2023, author Rike Uhlenkamp and photographer Rainer Kwiotek traveled across Germany. Between Munich, Westerhever, Zittau, and Essen, they met 17 young people, listened to their worries and hopes, their attitudes, their anger and joy. And they created elaborate portraits of the teenagers.

Scholarship shower for Zeitenspiegel

Why Reportages Remain Irreplaceable
„AI doesn't meet with informants,“ said Frauke Hunfeld. Together with Alexander Kauschanski and photographer Max Avdeev, she received the Hansel-Mieth-Prize for a reportage that no algorithm can write – about Germany's largest refugee camp and the business surrounding it. The keynote speech was given by Alexander Smoltczyk.

Film award for Carsten Stormer
The film „Wings of Change – The Eagle Huntress of Mongolia“ by Zeitenspiegler Carsten Stormer has been honored with the Silver Award in the Documentary & Reportage – Culture & Lifestyle category at the 2025 US International Awards and with the Bronze Award at the New York Festivals & Film Awards.

Gabriel Grüner: Why does one become a journalist?
On June 13, 1999, Gabriel Grüner, a close companion of the agency Zeitenspiegel, was shot and killed along with photographer Volker Krämer and translator Senol Alit at the Dulje Pass in Kosovo. Uli Reinhardt, co-founder and longtime managing director of Zeitenspiegel, has traveled to the scene every year on the anniversary of their deaths ever since. Here is his report.
