Following the success of their book „Dement, but Not Foolish,“ Uschi Entenmann and Erdmann Wingert, in collaboration with Michael Schmieder, are presenting a new guide on the topic of dementia. The title is „Dement, but Not Forgotten,“ also published by Ullstein Verlag.
The First Dementia Book, Released in 2015 and a bestseller with more than 40,000 copies sold to date, it illuminated the situation and psychological state of people with dementia in nursing homes. The now-released follow-up is dedicated to patients who are still cared for at home – which is the vast majority of all affected individuals, at 80 percent.
As in the first book, which showed with the example of the exemplary Sonnweid nursing home what humane treatment of them looks like, Michael Schmieder, founder of this home, this time demonstrates with eight recommendations how relatives can create a good life for themselves and their charges despite all the burdens. The same applies in these cases: if the attitude we have towards people affected by dementia is characterized by sympathy and respect, everything else follows naturally.
The book „Dement, but Not Forgotten“ (240 pages, €22.99) has been available in bookstores since September 1, 2022 – and also directly at Ullstein Verlag.
