{"id":658,"date":"2023-11-30T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/relaunch2025.zeitenspiegel.de\/aktuelles\/bemerkungen-ueber-natur\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T16:28:02","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T16:28:02","slug":"bemerkungen-ueber-natur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zeitenspiegel.de\/en\/aktuell\/bemerkungen-ueber-natur\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of October, after around ten years, Zeitenspiegel and the environmental magazine went their separate ways. <em>nature<\/em> separated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was one of the largest and most enduring time-mirror projects: for almost ten years, since the beginning of 2014, we were responsible for most of the editorial work at <em>nature<\/em> Responsible for everything from text to image editing, CvD coordination to final proofreading. We delivered hundreds of articles for the legendary environmental magazine founded by Horst Stern in 1980 \u2013 a controversial and eloquent environmentalist known to TV audiences for his series \u201eStern's Hours,\u201c in which he made critical and highly surprising \u201eRemarks about...\u201c red deer, dogs, spiders, and many other creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We developed series such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wissenschaft.de\/allgemein\/durchatmen-lieber-nicht\/\">\u201eChina's Environmental Power\u201c<\/a> and \u201eEnvironmental Power India,\u201c for which we conducted on-site research and collaborated with colleagues from these countries. We traveled through Germany's \u201eCharming Regions\u201c from a nature and environmental perspective (a small selection can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wissenschaft.de\/natur\/reizvolle-regionen\/\">here<\/a>We featured the pictures of the month and the science news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And we went on interview walks with \u201eMoor Pope\u201c Michael Succow and China's river protector Wang Yongchen. With chocolate patriarch Alfred Ritter and \u201eFuturzwei\u201c visionary Harald Welzer. With green money pioneer Alfred Platow and growth critic Nico Paech. With Klaus T\u00f6pfer, the green conscience of the CDU, and Sunita Narain, India's green conscience. With Reinhold Messner, it was, of course, a mountain hike. With energy expert Claudia Kemfert, an electrifying tour through Berlin. And with Sahra Wagenknecht, we played a round of Monopoly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zeitenspiegel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/natur-spaziergaenge_02.jpg\" alt=\"alt text\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a time unfavorable to print media \u2013 declining circulation, rapidly rising energy, distribution, and paper prices \u2013 the editorial paths of Zeitenspiegel and natur have now diverged.
