If one follows the news, the world seems to consist almost entirely of disasters, wars, and illnesses. Yet, the media's focus on major global problems paints a distorted, one-sided picture of the world, even in these truly crisis-ridden times: Everywhere, there are people working on solutions. Women often play a crucial and even more often underestimated role in this. Because the more egalitarian and educated a society is, the more peaceful, prosperous, and healthy it is.

In the new series „Change is Female: How Educated Women Are Changing the World“ by NDR Info and Zeitenspiegel, we present some visionary women from different countries and continents. We tell stories that inspire courage, give hope, and encourage emulation.

The radio and podcast series featured, among others, Zeitenspiegel authors Fabian Franke, Bernd Hauser, Isabel Stettin, Rike Uhlenkamp, and Tilman Wörtz, as well as Zeitenspiegel photographers Rainer Kwiotek, Sascha Montag, Frank Schultze, and Éric Vazzoler.

„The Change is Female“ was initiated by freelance reporter Elisabeth Weydt and Zeitenspiegel reporter Tilman Wörtz. To kick things off, they speak with Christiane Glas from NDR, who has editorially supervised the series.

The episodes of the series are each around 25 minutes long and are broadcast on NDR Info Sunday from 11 AM and again from 3 PM. The podcast episodes will always be available online on Wednesdays before the radio broadcast. The first radio episode will be broadcast on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Radio broadcasts on NDR Info:

Sunday, 10/16/2022

Episode 1: The Rubble Women of Rwanda

Episode 2: The Little Nuns of Nepal

Sunday, October 23, 2022

Episode 3: Drinking Knowledge Gives Us Water, Ecuador

Episode 4: Mary's Vegetables – Fighting Malnutrition in Malawi

Sunday, 10/30/2022

Episode 5: Apps and Girls – Computer courses with Nancy Kaale, Tanzania

Episode 6: A World Without Nuclear Weapons - Beatrice Fihn in Portrait

Sunday, 11/13/2022

Episode 7: Learn and be free – Thouweibetou's Legacy, Mauritania

Episode 8: Desire is a Human Right – Dr. T and Sex Education in South Africa

Sunday, 11/20/2022

Episode 9: Haiti's Singing Midwives - Saving Lives

More information about the series „Change is Female“ can be found on the Website NDR.

On October 16, 2022, the radio and podcast series „Change is Female“ launches, a collaboration between NDR and Zeitenspiegel Reportages.

[1

post-737","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-aktuell
["GET
