Conversation with Andreas Landwehr, long-time China correspondent for dpa. Presented by the German-Chinese Media Network e.V.
For three decades, Andreas Landwehr led the German Press Agency's (dpa) office in Beijing. Now he has returned to Germany. With him, one of the most experienced China correspondents has left the People's Republic.
During his time there, the country underwent fundamental changes multiple times. When he arrived, the military operation in Tiananmen Square was still fresh in memory. He experienced profound economic reforms and openness to the world – but also a return to autocracy and personality cult.
The German-Chinese Media Network e.V. wants to talk with Andreas Landwehr about his three decades in China – and about the present. How has his perspective on the country changed over time? How has Germany's perspective on China changed? And how has China's perspective on Germany changed?
