Hansel-Mieth-Award Ceremony 2025

The Hansel Mieth Prize Ceremony 2025 will take place on June 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Great Hall of Fellbach City Hall, presented by Zeitenspiegel and the City of Fellbach.

The guest speaker is Alexander Smoltczyk., Spiegel-Author and long-time jury member. His topic: „When the bot chats merrily – what remains for reportage“?

  • Geo- Editor Gesa Gottschalk, a member of this year's jury, will give the award presentation.
  • Reading of the winning report: Barbara Stoll
  • Musical accompaniment: Eva Laeticia (vocals) and Dany (guitar)
  • Moderation: Jochen Stöckle, SWR

Frauke Hunfeld (text), Alexander Kauschanski (text), and Max Avdeev (photos) will receive the 2025 Hansel-Mieth Prize for the reportage „Das Lager,“ published in Spiegel, awarded. The report describes the conditions in Germany's largest refugee accommodation in Berlin-Tegel, where thousands of people live under difficult conditions – while numerous companies are making good business out of these conditions.

For the prize, which is being awarded for the 27th time this year, 134 applications were submitted. It is endowed with 6000 euros.

Following the celebration, there will be a small stand-up reception.
